Man Camp 26

This is year 10 for the guys campout Kevin and I started.

It began as a simple open invitation: Hey, guys we know who also follow Jesus, come camping with us. It was fun, so we did it again the next year. Over time, my invitation list has grown, but the heart of the event has stayed largely the same: enjoy the outdoors while getting to know other guys who love Jesus.

This year, we added something new. We invited the men of One Life Church, my home church, to join us.

It was wonderful.

We had a mix of men from Vineyard Boise, Capital Church, Rock Harbor, and One Life Church. At one point, I teared up a little as I looked around and realized that every guy there was someone I knew personally and was incredibly proud to call a friend and co-laborer in Christ.

Most of these men have mentored, encouraged, challenged, or strengthened me in some way. I’m incredibly blessed to be surrounded by men who seek to live with integrity, love God well, and lead their families faithfully.

And on top of all that, I got to spend the entire week at camp.

It was refreshing—an entire week away from my computer and work. A week to quiet the outside noise and hear the wind in the trees. Hear the howling of distant wolves and the call of a nearby owl. Hear the quiet, encouraging whisper of the Holy Spirit.

I’m grateful.
